Complete Renovation of the Holmlia Swim Center

SteelPool Sweden AB is renovating the swimming pool in stainless steel at the Holmlia sports complex in Oslo.

The swimming pool is completely refurbished in stainless steel and made into a competition pool with starting blocks, acrylic turning boards, underwater lighting, lane markings and lane dividers.

A specially adapted lift assists people into the pool.

A new children’s pool has also been added by SteelPool Sweden AB.

From an article on the grand opening in Dagsavisen.no:

The Holmlia swim center is housed in an underground civil-defense bunker. The Holmlia area grew during the cold war, when shelters of this sort were deemed a necessity. The smart solution was to combine sports center, swimming pool and civil-defense bunker. Giant caverns were blasted from the mountainside in Holmlia, and in 1983 the swimming pool was completed, still the most recent one in the Oslo area.

“We are very proud to be affecting the rate of investment in public baths and sports centers in Oslo in recent years. The changing rooms are all new, with lockers and elevators for people with disabilities. An automatic sand-filtered water-treatment system, rinse-water recycling and soundproofing have been installed in both the pool area and the locker rooms,” says Eli Grimsby, CEO of culture and sports facilities in Oslo.
